How to install an eSIM on iPhone

Activating a Silent eSIM on iPhone takes about 60 seconds.

Before you start

• iPhone XS or newer.
• iOS 16.4 or later.
• Wi-Fi or a working cellular connection (just for installation).
• Your eSIM QR code from silentesim.io.

Install (QR code method)

1. Open Settings → Cellular (US) or Mobile Data (UK).
2. Tap Add eSIM.
3. Choose Use QR Code.
4. Scan the QR code we sent you. (If you're on the phone showing the QR code, tap Enter Details Manually and paste the activation code instead.)
5. Tap Continue → Add Cellular Plan.
6. Label the plan ("Travel", "Japan", etc.).
7. Choose your default line.

Turn data roaming ON

This trips most people up. The eSIM is technically a roaming SIM, so:

• Settings → Cellular → tap the travel eSIM.
• Turn Data Roaming ON.
• Leave Voice & Data on 5G/LTE.

Without this, you'll have signal but no internet.

Troubleshooting

• "Could not activate": check Wi-Fi, then retry.
• No data after landing: toggle Airplane mode off-and-on, or restart the phone.
• Slow speeds: under Voice & Data, switch from 5G Auto to LTE.
